CVE-2021-39226Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Snapshot disclosure and deletion via literal route matching

Published Oct 5, 2021 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Authentication bypass in Grafana 2.0.1 through 7.5.10 and 8.0.0 through 8.1.5 allows remote attackers to read snapshot data. The Macaron router treats literal colon-bearing paths as static-route matches, leaves the key parameter empty, and queries the database for its lowest-key snapshot. Viewing needs no authentication; deletion requires authentication unless public_mode is enabled, and repeated requests expose and delete every snapshot.
