Validator crash via unbounded GZIP decompression
Published Nov 11, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Uncontrolled resource consumption in Cloudflare OctoRPKI before 1.4.0 allows remote attackers to crash the validator via a GZIP bomb. The sync/lib/syncpki repository-loading path reads and decompresses the entire response into memory without enforcing a decompressed-size limit. Exploitation requires control of a repository in the trust chain or introduction of a malicious TAL, and repeated crashes interrupt route validation.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
