CVE-2021-38941Network attack vector

Host data destruction via unnecessarily privileged containers

Published Jun 30, 2022 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Excessive container permissions in IBM Cloud Pak for Multicloud Management Monitoring 2.0 through 2.3 Fix Pack 4 allow attackers to destroy host data. Several Monitoring containers run in privileged mode, so arbitrary commands executed inside them can modify or destroy data on the underlying host. Attackers must first gain unauthorized command execution inside an affected container; IBM does not describe that initial access path.
