CVE-2021-38935Network attack vector

Account compromise via permissive default password policy

Published Feb 18, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024

Weak password requirements in IBM Maximo Asset Management 7.6.1.1 through 7.6.1.2 allow attackers to compromise user accounts. The standard policy permits six-character passwords, username reuse, unlimited repeated characters, no required character classes, and no expiration. The condition applies when Maximo manages authentication; an external directory instead controls password policy, and successful guessing grants the compromised account's existing access.
