Root command execution via unfiltered upload filename
Published Aug 24, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in NASCENT RemKon Device Manager 4.0.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands as root via image uploads. The assets/index.php Image Upload function passes an uploaded filename into raw system commands without filtering shell metacharacters. Default deployments require no authentication, so a crafted filename containing a semicolon grants root-level control of the host.
