Arbitrary file deletion via uninstaller symlink following
Published Aug 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Link following in Foxit Reader and PhantomPDF before 10.1.4 allows local users to delete arbitrary files during uninstallation. The uninstaller fails to prevent an attacker-created symbolic link from redirecting its file-removal operation to an unintended path. A local user must first create the symbolic link, and deletion occurs only when an administrator subsequently uninstalls the application.
