Speech recovery via power LED optical leakage
Published Aug 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Information disclosure in CREATIVE Pebble devices through 2021-08-09 allows remote attackers to recover speech through power-LED observations. The indicator LED is wired directly to the power line, so sound-dependent power consumption modulates its intensity and exposes audio to optical sampling. Exploitation requires line of sight plus a telescope and electro-optical sensor, and it discloses played speech without changing device state.
