SYSDBA privilege escalation via database connection API
Published Oct 22, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Privilege escalation in AUVESY versiondog 8.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to gain SYSDBA database permissions. The database-connection API assigns SYSDBA authority to an unprivileged caller instead of enforcing the caller’s limited database role. Exploitation requires low-privilege access and user interaction; gained SYSDBA authority enables administrative control of the database.
