CVE-2021-38469

Code execution via unqualified service DLL paths

Published Oct 22, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Uncontrolled DLL search paths in AUVESY versiondog 8.0 and earlier allow local users to execute code through a planted library. Affected services request DLLs without absolute paths, causing Windows to search nearby directories and load an attacker-planted library. Exploitation requires placing a DLL near the product binaries; its code then runs in the service context, enabling data modification or service interruption.
