CVE-2021-38459Network attack vector

SYSDBA access via captured handshake replay

Published Oct 22, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024

Authentication bypass in AUVESY versiondog 8.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to gain SYSDBA access by replaying a captured handshake. The client/server initial handshake accepts previously captured authentication data while a specific executable remains running. Access to admin/client handshake packets is required; the resulting SYSDBA session can change user passwords or delete the database.
