CVE-2021-38429Network attack vector

Service interruption via authentication resend amplification

Published May 5, 2022 · Updated Apr 16, 2025

Network amplification in Object Computing OpenDDS before 3.18.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt service and expose information. The authentication resend path repeatedly transmits RTPS authentication messages without congestion backoff after receiving a crafted packet. Unauthenticated network access to a participating DDS domain is sufficient; sustained amplification can flood reachable devices and disrupt service.
