Unauthenticated code execution via BwFLApp buffer overflow
Published Sep 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Advantech WebAccess 9.02 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code without authentication. IOCTL 0x2711 invokes BwFLApp.exe, which copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. Successful exploitation executes attacker-controlled code with Administrator privileges on the WebAccess host.
