System password recovery via extractable weak hash
Published Oct 4, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Weak password hashing in Boston Scientific ZOOM LATITUDE Model 3120 allows physically proximate attackers to recover the system password. The internal hard drive or a specially crafted USB exposes a password hash that is cheap enough to brute-force and reverse engineer. Physical access and user interaction are required; the direct consequence is disclosure of the system password.
