Contributor-level plugin installation via edit_posts authorization
Published Sep 2, 2021 · Updated May 5, 2025
Incorrect authorization in Redux Framework 4.2.11 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to install plugins and delete posts. The permissions_callback for redux/v1/templates/ in redux-templates/classes/class-api.php accepts edit_posts for privileged operations. Contributor-level access is sufficient to install repository plugins and delete any post or page, but the flaw does not directly grant full site control.
