CVE-2021-38305

Arbitrary code execution via schema eval bypass

Published Aug 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Command injection in 23andMe Yamale before 3.0.8 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted schema file. The schema parser passes each schema line to Python's eval with restricted builtins, but a crafted rule bypasses that restriction and invokes system commands. Exploitation requires the target application to process an attacker-controlled schema, granting code execution with the application's privileges.
