CVE-2021-3829Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Open redirect via prefix-only origin validation

Published Dec 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

Open redirect in Openwhyd before 1.45.3 allows remote attackers to send authenticated users to an untrusted site via a crafted redirect URL. The safeRedirect method compared the serialized URL with the configured origin by string prefix, so an origin placed before @ was accepted as same-site. The upstream regression test exercises the /consent flow with an authenticated administrator session; exploitation redirects that user to an attacker-chosen site.
