Out-of-bounds memory access via VecStorage deserialization
Published Aug 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds memory access in nalgebra before 0.27.1 allows attackers to access memory via crafted VecStorage deserialization inputs. The VecStorage Deserialize implementation accepts dimensions whose element count differs from nrows multiplied by ncols, allowing reads beyond the vector allocation. Exploitation requires an application to deserialize attacker-controlled data; the resulting memory corruption can expose memory or destabilize the process.
