Sensitive-data exfiltration via zero-PIN bypass
Published Aug 29, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Authentication bypass in Canon Catwalk Server devices made from 2012 through 2020 allows remote attackers to redirect sensitive data by e-mail. The Catwalk Server HTTP portal accepts 0000 as the General User Mode PIN on affected configurations, granting access to the e-mail address setting. Exposure requires HTTP access to Catwalk Server on an affected device; redirected messages can include incoming faxes.
