Remote code execution via cleartext software updates
Published Sep 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cleartext update transport in Barco MirrorOp Windows Sender before 2.5.3.65 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The client retrieves software upgrades over HTTP without TLS protection, allowing a network intermediary to substitute a rogue upgrade that the updater executes. Exploitation requires access to the same local network and a target that attempts an update; successful substitution runs code on that Windows computer.
