Remote application crash via unchecked TGA ident read
Published Aug 4, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in LibGD through 2.3.2 allows remote attackers to crash applications that process a crafted TGA file. read_header_tga copies an attacker-controlled ident field with gdGetBuf but fails to verify that the requested bytes were returned before parsing continues. Exploitation requires an application to process attacker-controlled TGA content and interrupts only the consuming process.
