Integer overflow in FFmpeg 4.2.1's 16-bit Sobel filter allows attackers to interrupt media processing via crafted input. The filter16_sobel routine stores gradient sums as signed integers and squares them, allowing overflow before magnitude calculation. Processing attacker-controlled 16-bit frames with the Sobel convolution filter is required; denial of service is reported, while other impacts remain unspecified.
