CVE-2021-3806Public exploit

Arbitrary file write via unchecked archive paths

Published Sep 18, 2021 · Updated May 18, 2026

Path traversal in Pardus Software Center before 0.1.0~beta10 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to write files via intercepted archives. The extractArchive function passes an icon archive fetched over cleartext HTTP to tarfile.extractall without validating member paths or constraining extraction to the cache directory. Exploitation requires a same-network interception and the user to open the application, after which crafted traversal entries can overwrite files writable by that user.
