Code execution via cloned media-track use-after-free
Published Dec 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in Google Chrome's MediaStreamTrackGenerator before 96.0.4664.45 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory via crafted HTML. Aborting a cloned audio or video track disconnects and destroys the generator while an onended event can access and free the retained clone again. A user must load an attacker-controlled page; control of the freed memory enables code execution in the affected browser process.
