Heap corruption via DevTools file-system use-after-free
Published Nov 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in DevTools in Google Chrome before 95.0.4638.54 allows remote attackers to corrupt heap memory via crafted HTML. DevToolsFileHelper::GetFileSystems registered a file-system preference callback with an unretained helper pointer, allowing delayed handling to access freed state. Exploitation is unauthenticated but requires the victim to open the crafted page; successful exploitation corrupts the browser process.
