Sandbox escape via Skia heap buffer overflow
Published Nov 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Heap buffer overflow in Skia in Google Chrome before 95.0.4638.54 allows remote attackers to escape the sandbox via a crafted HTML page. Google identifies Skia as the faulty component but has not disclosed the affected function or the unchecked size or index operation that writes beyond the heap allocation. Exploitation requires user interaction with crafted HTML and an already-compromised renderer process; success crosses the renderer sandbox boundary.
