Remote heap corruption via File System API use-after-free
Published Oct 8, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in the File System API in Google Chrome before 94.0.4606.54 allows remote attackers to trigger heap corruption via crafted HTML. The API accesses an object after its lifetime has ended when processing attacker-controlled page content, creating a dangling-reference condition. Exploitation requires a victim to load the crafted page, and the documented consequence is heap corruption with potential browser compromise or service interruption.
