CVE-2021-3794Network attack vector

Application hang via inefficient URL validation regex

Published Sep 15, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024

ReDoS in Vuelidate through 2.0.0-alpha.25 allows remote attackers to hang applications by submitting crafted URLs for validation. The url(input) validator applies a backtracking-prone regular expression to untrusted strings, causing excessive CPU use on crafted input. Exposure requires a consuming Vue application to pass attacker-controlled data to the URL validator; the bounded consequence is application unresponsiveness.
