Credential disclosure via debug-log tombstone entry
Published Nov 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Couchbase Server 7.0.0 and 7.0.1 contain a cleartext storage flaw that allows remote attackers to obtain XDCR credentials through debug logs. The metakv configuration logger records keys carrying tombstone-purger timestamps without redacting associated remoteCluster credential values. An attacker needs access to server debug-log output; the demonstrated consequence is credential confidentiality loss, with no evidence of direct data modification or service interruption.
