CVE-2021-37794Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Server command execution via stored SVG script

Published Aug 31, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Stored XSS in FileBrowser before 2.16.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute server commands after an administrator views an SVG. The HTTP handler serves uploaded active SVG content without a restrictive Content Security Policy, letting embedded script rewrite the global before_upload command and trigger it through another upload. Exploitation requires an account permitted to upload files and an administrator to open the SVG, after which commands run with the server process's privileges.
