Victim-authorized actions via unrestricted session cookie
Published Nov 13, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in ShowDoc 2.9.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to act as a logged-in user via crafted web content. UserController sets the cookie_token authentication cookie after login or registration without a SameSite restriction, so a browser can attach it to a cross-site request. Exploitation requires a logged-in victim to interact with attacker-controlled content; resulting actions are limited by that victim’s ShowDoc privileges.
