CVE-2021-37697Network attack vector

Sensitive data disclosure via unrestricted format attributes

Published Aug 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Information disclosure in the Welcome cog of tmerc-cogs before commit d63c49b allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive data. The __send_notice function passes live Discord member and guild objects to str.format, letting a crafted membership-event format traverse unrestricted object attributes. Access to configure the event message is required, and disclosure is limited to data reachable through those objects.
