Stored script execution via unsanitized SVG links
Published Sep 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Stored XSS in BookStack before 21.08.2 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts in other users' browsers through page content. The HtmlContentFilter retains SVG xlink:href attributes containing javascript or data URLs, so saved page markup reaches the renderer with active links intact. Page-edit access and a subsequent page view are required, placing the viewer's BookStack session-context actions and displayed data at risk.
