Process crash via unchecked metadata iterator dereference
Published Aug 9, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Null pointer dereference in Exiv2 0.27.4 and earlier allows local users to crash the utility via a crafted image. During interpreted metadata printing, Exiv2::Internal::resolveLens0x319 dereferences an iterator returned by findKey without checking whether it equals end(). The crash requires a user to process the file with the less common -p t or -P t translated-output option and interrupts only that Exiv2 process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
