Server-side requests via unrestricted PDF export fetching
Published Sep 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 3, 2024
Server-side request forgery in BookStack before 21.08 allows remote authenticated users to make server-side requests through PDF exports. The PDF export pipeline passes attacker-controlled external asset URLs to dompdf or wkhtmltopdf, which fetches them without restricting the destination. Page creation or update and export permissions are required, and resulting requests can reach internal or external resources visible to the server.
