Credential exposure in JetBrains TeamCity before 2021.1 allows attackers to read plaintext passwords from version-controlled settings. The versioned-settings persistence path can serialize some password values as cleartext into repository-backed configuration files; JetBrains has not published the triggering cases or code-level cause. Exposure requires versioned settings and repository access, and the bounded consequence is disclosure of credentials committed by TeamCity.
