Script execution via unencoded social-search query
Published Aug 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in Chamilo LMS 1.11.14 allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through a crafted social-search URL. The main/social/search.php handler passed the q parameter into the search form without HTML encoding; the patch applies htmlentities and strips tags before rendering it. A victim must open the crafted URL, after which the script runs in the Chamilo origin and can read or alter browser-accessible data in that user's session.
