Reflected XSS via unencoded category parameter
Published Aug 10, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in CTparental before 4.45.03 allows remote attackers to run script in an administrator's browser via the admin panel. The bl_categories_help.php handler assigns the cat query parameter to categories and returns it in HTML without sanitization or output encoding. The attack requires an administrator to open a crafted link; the resulting script can expose the admin cookie and act within that browser context.
