Arbitrary file write via unchecked WebDAV destinations
Published Feb 3, 2023 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
Path traversal in Cloud Disk in ASUS RT-AC68U firmware before 3.0.0.4.386.41634 allows remote attackers to write arbitrary files. The mod_webdav.so COPY and MOVE handlers fail to verify that the resolved destination remains beneath /mnt, permitting writes outside the storage tree. Cloud Disk must be enabled, and the demonstrated unauthenticated chain can overwrite router configuration or executable files, causing persistent service loss or code execution.
