Service interruption via unescaped replaceFirst pattern
Published Dec 16, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Regex injection in JFinal_cms 5.1.0 allows remote attackers to exhaust server resources and interrupt the service via crafted path data. FileManager.getFilePath passes attacker-controlled contextPath directly as the regular-expression pattern to String.replaceFirst, enabling catastrophic backtracking. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful requests can consume server resources until the web service becomes unavailable.
