Cross-tenant data access via unchecked company reassignment
Published Aug 4, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Authorization bypass in Akaunting 2.1.12 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to read and modify another company's data. The profile update handler trusts the user-controlled companies[0] field and reassigns the account to the supplied company ID without an authorization check. Any valid user account is sufficient, and successful reassignment exposes cross-tenant company information and permits changes under the other company.
