Physical root access via console auto-login
Published Jul 19, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper access control in Victron Energy Venus OS 2.72 and earlier allows physically proximate attackers to obtain root access. The physical serial console automatically logs in as root without credentials, while SSH and network root login remain disabled by default. Physical device access is required, and Victron disputes that this documented console behavior constitutes a vulnerability.
