Repository credential disclosure via cross-origin forwarding
Published May 2, 2022 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Incorrect authorization in Rancher 2.5.0 through 2.5.11 and 2.6.0 through 2.6.2 allows remote attackers to obtain repository credentials. The Helm chart downloader forwards a private repository's HTTP Authorization header across redirects or to externally hosted chart icons without enforcing a same-origin hostname match. Exposure requires configured private-repository credentials and an attacker-controlled redirect target or external icon host; the leaked secret is the base64-encoded Authorization header.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
