Memory corruption via invalid ELF section offset
Published Mar 24, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Out-of-bounds reads in Rizin after 0.2.1 allow local users to corrupt memory during analysis of a crafted ELF file. create_section_from_phdr accepts an invalid section offset and pushes a section whose name can retain a garbage value, corrupting memory when callbacks consume the object. The user-interaction gate is opening attacker-supplied ELF content; the published PoC demonstrates a crash, while reliable code execution is unproven.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
