Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized command parameter
Published Aug 6, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in ProLink PRC2402M firmware 1.0.18 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The set_sys_cmd function in adm.cgi routes page=sysCMD requests and passes the command parameter directly to system without validation. Access to the router's authenticated HTTP admin console is required, and successful exploitation grants a root shell with full control of the device.
