Authenticated file deletion via traversal in backup handler
Published Aug 3, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Arbitrary file deletion in danpros HTMLy 2.8.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to delete host files through the backup page. The system/admin/views/backup.html.php handler appends an unvalidated file parameter to backup/ and passes the path to unlink, allowing ../ traversal outside that directory. Administrative access to the backup page is required; deleting the user configuration prevents further logins, while other writable host files are exposed.
