Open redirect in Unshift.io url-parse before 1.5.2 allows remote attackers to redirect URL-processing consumers via malformed URLs. The extractProtocol logic treats special schemes with missing or irregular slashes as paths instead of parsing the following text as the host. Exploitation requires a consuming application to trust the parsed host or reconstructed URL; consequences include allowlist bypass, SSRF, or redirection.
