Administrator takeover via unverified account-creation request
Published Feb 3, 2023 · Updated Mar 26, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in imcat 5.4 allows remote attackers to add a super-administrator account through an administrator’s browser. The add-administrator endpoint accepts a crafted POST without an anti-CSRF token and processes it even after the Referer header is removed. Exploitation requires a logged-in administrator to open attacker-controlled content, after which the new account grants administrative access.
