CVE-2021-36383Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated data disclosure via client-controlled permissions

Published Jul 12, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Incorrect authorization in Xen Orchestra allows remote authenticated users to read restricted data through its WebSocket API. In xo-web 5.80.0 and earlier and xo-server 5.84.0 and earlier, the resourceSet.getAll flow trusts a client-modifiable permission value, so changing none to admin exposes restricted API data and UI elements. A low-privileged account is required, and demonstrated access covers VMs, backups, audit records, users, and groups without reported write access.
