Unauthenticated code execution via arbitrary web-root write
Published Aug 31, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in KRAMER VIAware through August 2021 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted HTTP request. The unauthenticated ajaxPages/writeBrowseFilePathAjax.php endpoint writes radioBtnVal content to an attacker-supplied associateFileName path without constraining the destination. Any network client able to reach the endpoint can place a PHP file under the web root and execute it with the web application's www-data privileges.
