Local code execution via unauthorized file upload
Published Nov 23, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Improper authorization in Dell Technologies NetWorker before 19.5 allows local users with NetWorker privileges to execute uploaded files. The nsrrcopy script, when launched through nsrexecd, accepts a malicious file upload to a location that the NetWorker account is not authorized to write. Access to a NetWorker user account on the host is required, and successful exploitation permits attacker-controlled code execution.
